Following results of amnesty for banned accounts poll, many speculate Alex Jones may be revived.

Infowars founder Alex Jones and other controversial figures may be allowed back on Twitter following Elon Musk’s new poll asking whether banned accounts should be reinstated.

The 24-hour poll, asking if accounts that have not broken the law or spammed should be reinstated, was voted on by over 3 million Twitter users Wednesday, with 72% saying they should be reinstated.

“Amnesty begins next week. Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” Musk announced agreeing with the results.

Despite admitting last week he had a personal problem with Alex Jones, Musk’s declaration prompted many to speculate that Jones’ account and others – just like rapper Kanye West’s and former President Donald Trump’s accounts – could be revived on the platform.

The phrasing of Musk’s question certainly gives the impression Jones may be brought back; after all, he was never convicted of a crime and has unconstitutionally been found liable by default in his two recent Sandy Hook defamation cases.

Following Musk’s denial of Jones’ reinstatement, many prominent Twitter users questioned how Jones’ ban squared with the Twitter CEO’s claims he would bring free speech back to the platform.

In the coming days, everyone will see whether Musk lives up to his promise to make Twitter a bastion of free speech, or whether he cowers to the likes of the Anti-Defamation League and other enemies of freedom.
