It has been twenty five years ago today that the September 11th false flag event to bring down the Twin Towers in New York was used against Americans. It was used to usher in “The Patriot Act”. There is nothing “patriotic” about the militarization of police, mass surveillance, body probing at airports, and many more tyrannical actions against society. The political response to 9/11 was nearly instantaneous and unidirectional, always pointing to more power and money for the state, at whatever level deemed necessary.
George W. Bush used the “global war on terror” excuse to start the war in Iraq. It has essentially been one conflict after another in the name of the so called war on terror. A few days after the 9/11 attacks, Vice President Dick Cheney warned that there might never be an “end date” in the “struggle” against terrorism.
Americans overwhelmingly supported trading in all sorts of civil liberties and freedoms for safety. Both politicians and voters remain happy to keep on believing that trading freedom for safety is a good idea. They said it was for safety. They said it was for order. They said it was for the good of the nation. They always say it’s for something good… until it isn’t. After 9/11, Americans were told the Patriot Act and mass surveillance were “necessary to prevent terrorism.” The result was a sprawling security state that tracks every phone call, every online search, every purchase. The justification was security. The cost was freedom.
Why do people accept tyranny so easily? When people invest blind faith in a leader, they will excuse anything he does. It is the psychology of the mob. Fear is also used to manipulate the masses. Fear makes people beg for the chains that bind them. People also believe that tyranny is only tyranny when the “other side” does it. When “their side” does it, they call it leadership. They call it patriotism. They call it protection. But the abuse doesn’t change when the party label does. Wrong is wrong. “What you excuse today,” history warns us, “will be used against you tomorrow.”
The hyper-fast rollout of the surveillance police state agenda that we are living in right now got it’s footing started 25 years ago. Are we going to simply stand by and watch it expand to the point that our children and grandchildren do not have any freedom at all?
