The Department of Defense (DOD) is having a hard time recruiting new members to fill out the ranks of the all-volunteer military despite generous enlistment incentives.

According to reports, there has been a poor recruitment environment not seen since the Vietnam War. All branches of the military are said to be under their projected recruitment goals, despite generous enlistment bonuses.

The Army offered up to a $50,000 enlistment bonus back in January, and now new recruits will be signed up for $10,000 if they show up to basic training in 30 days. The Navy is also offering incentives of up to $50,000 to qualified recruits depending upon the program and position sought. The Air Force, which usually receives many applications, is seeing warning signs in its recruitment efforts.

Army Chief of Staff General James McConville testified last month before Congress that only 23 percent of Americans aged 17-24 are qualified to serve without a waiver, which is down from 29 percent in recent years.

One of the reasons for lower recruitment numbers is the lingering effect of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19). Obesity, criminal records and cultural changes are the other reasons cited why Americans are refusing to be enlisted. Market labor shortages, where businesses are competing for young Americans, offering bonuses and incentives to potential employees, may have also contributed to the low turnout of recruits.

Woke agenda has been infecting the military

The New American reported: “The Biden administration’s idea of leadership and trust in our military is reflected more in their pan-global progressive ideology and morally bankrupt social experiments than providing for basic obligations to train and groom new successful military recruits.”

For instance, the Army recently ran anime lesbian wedding ads. It may have pushed away potential recruits, especially young patriotic men and women from traditional backgrounds.

The advertisement titled “Emma: The Calling,” showed a girl’s childhood before she joined the Army. The video showed Emma watching her two mothers get married and it followed her as she joined a sorority at her university and fought for “freedom” at a young age by participating in a gay rights parade.

The Army has also released mandatory transgender pronoun training presentation titled “Policy on the Military Service of Transgender Persons and Persons with Gender Dysphoria.”

“These efforts have prompted pushback from Republicans in Congress and some within the military who view the policy changes as an effort to promote ‘woke’ propaganda within the service,” the Washington Free Beacon noted.

The policy also stated that the Army allows transgender soldiers to serve openly. An otherwise qualified soldier shall not be involuntarily separated, discharged or denied reenlistment or continuation of service on the basis of gender identity, it said. It further mentioned that the Army commanders “should approach a soldier’s gender transition in the same way they approach any soldier receiving any other necessary medical treatment.”

Dakota Wood, a Marine Corps veteran who specializes in defense issues, said that the new Army guideline could be a highly controversial argument and is promoted by the progressive left which could possibly be rejected by the conservative right.

“Forcing soldiers ‘to accept the premise that one can choose their gender and therefore change how they are to be treated’ creates frictions within organizations that are dependent on unity and cohesion to be successful in combat,” Wood said.

As the Ukraine war threatens to spark a larger conflict, military analysts are saying that the Biden administration is prioritizing woke culture over protecting the American people.

The vaccine mandate has also decimated the country’s armed forces. Earlier this year, the Army reported that commanders had “relieved a total of six regular Army leaders, including two battalion commanders, for refusing the vaccination order.” (Related: Vaccine mandates, military vaccine injuries continue to threaten national security by killing our soldiers.)

The Army said that those who were discharged for refusing the experimental vaccine “will not be eligible for involuntary separation pay” and may have to return any unearned special or incentive pay. The Pentagon has made inoculation mandatory for service members in the summer of 2021.
