Flock Safety is best known for its network of automated license plate readers—but what happens when that surveillance network starts moving?
In this interview, Jason Hunyar discusses records he obtained that he says reveal connections between Flock and robotic security dogs being deployed by private companies around Atlanta. The robots, sold by Undaunted, carry cameras and can reportedly be monitored remotely, while the company has promoted potential integration with Flock technology.
We also discuss records Jason obtained from the Georgia Attorney General’s Office concerning Nexar, a dashcam company. According to the material Jason describes, Flock presented information about access to or integration involving more than 350,000 dashcams used by Uber, Lyft, delivery and other drivers—raising questions about how far a network originally associated with fixed license plate readers could potentially expand.
