Officials in Democrat-controlled Michigan are planning to chop down over 400 acres of trees in the state’s forestland to supposedly fight “global warming.”

A 420-acre swath of state forestland will be cleared to make way for a Chinese solar farm near Gaylord, a top state official confirmed to MLive.

The deal is under a lease agreement with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

Officials with the DNR recently assessed 1,200 acres of public trust land in Otsego County near a major power transmission line to decide whether it was suitable for solar arrays.

Agency leaders ultimately decided to lease 35% of that land to accompany other adjacent solar projects already in the works.

This comes as the DNR faces dwindling revenues from hunting and fishing licenses.

Michigan is also falling behind on its renewable energy targets as dictated by the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) “Net Zero” agenda.

Officials in Michigan are now scrambling to ensure that the state complies with the WEF’s key state climate goal – 100% clean energy by 2040.

Leasing 4,000 acres of public land statewide is part of the DNR’s plan to help remedy both problems in coming years.

Officials said that Michigan’s solar panel farm may begin just west of Gaylord.

A public notice advertising competitive bidding for solar proposals on 420 acres of state land in Otsego County’s Hayes Township is expected to be published in the coming days.

The notice will appear in both the Gaylord newspaper and on the DNR website.

This information was confirmed by Scott Whitcomb, DNR director of the public lands office.

Whitcomb said the DNR will schedule a public hearing if requested by local governments and enough members of the public.

MLive filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for documents and digital files associated with the project on October 21, 2024.

However, the FOIA request remains pending.

State decision-makers know this choice will be criticized, Whitcomb said.

“Not incredibly popular with everyone,” he added.

“I will be frank about that.”

Deforesting land for renewable energy has become the focus of recent scientific studies.

Evidence from both Harvard University and Chinese researchers shows the loss of carbon dioxide gobbling forests for solar installations results in a net increase in “greenhouse gas emissions.”

“Greenhouse gas emissions” are what the WEF, United Nations, and their globalist allies claim causes “global warming.”

Former Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) advisor Steve Guest blasted the move as “insanity.”

“It’s not even going to help the environment,” Guest warned.

In addition, Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow’s (CFACT) Marc Marano noted that the forests will be cleared “to create rows of Chinese-made solar panels.”

The news comes after Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates stoked controversy with a similar radical plan that he claims will “save the planet” from “climate change.”

As Slay News reported, Gates is funding an effort that seeks to chop down a staggering 70 million acres of trees to allegedly “fight global warming.”

Gates’s organization, Breakthrough Energy, has plowed $6.6 million into the project led by Kodama Systems.

The move will see 70m acres of forests, mostly in the Western United States, cut down.

After the trees have been chopped down, they will be buried.

According to the project organizers, “scientists” say “burying trees can reduce global warming.”

Kodama claims that burying the trees will prevent them from allegedly “spewing” carbon back into the air.
