Dr. Robert Califf, the current commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is on a mission to funnel billions of dollars in new profits both to Big Pharma and to his own pockets with the launch of a new illegal, off-label pharmaceutical drug-pushing scheme.
It was after his first appointment to the FDA role under Barack Obama that Califf proposed that drug companies be allowed to advertise their products for off-label uses. Though illegal, Califf’s proposal would have opened up the floodgates for new Big Pharma profit streams, which for many drugs dries up once the market has become saturated for their approved uses.
At the time, Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) wrote a scathing letter to Califf, explaining to him that the FDA “must not become complicit in the growing prescription fentanyl problem this country is combatting.” Around this same time in 2009, drug giant Pfizer pleaded guilty to a U.S. criminal charge for off-label prescriptions that cost the company a record $2.3 billion in fines.
The FDA’s Office of Criminal Investigations (OCI) conducted an investigation at the time, after which the Department of Justice (DOJ) issued a statement about a settlement that had been reached.
“We expect this agreement to increase integrity in the marketing of pharmaceuticals,” the DOJ announced at the time.

Repurposing drugs for off-label uses means more blood money for Big Pharma
Fast-forward to today and Califf is once again the FDA’s commissioner, having been appointed to his seat by Joe Biden. Califf’s previous attempts to push off-label drug prescriptions was actually shot down by Obama officials, but this time around he is trying it again with seemingly greater success now that his critics are no longer in the picture.
“[T]he proposal, which many public health experts considered dangerous, was blocked by others in the Obama administration, according to a person familiar with it,” reported the New York Times about the matter.
One week before Christmas 2023, Califf posted a message to X (formerly Twitter) about how prescribing Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) “vaccines” for off-label uses will somehow help to protect children from testing positive for “long” COVID.
“Good news about vaccinated children for Covid-19,” Califf wrote. “Children who are vaccinated have a substantially lower rate of Long Covid compared with unvaccinated children.”
It turns out that the FDA as an agency does not even agree with Califf’s claims, which constitute misinformation.
“The FDA-approved and authorized coronavirus vaccines are indicated for active immunization to prevent COVID-19 caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2),” the FDA wrote in an email to Paul D. Thacker of the Disinformation Chronicle Substack.
“The vaccines are not approved or authorized as a treatment for long COVID.”
It turns out that Califf’s misinformation came from a Nature article by Dr. Jessica Snowden, a pediatric infectious disease specialist at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences who took cash from Pfizer to promote the company’s mRNA (modRNA) COVID injections.
Snowden has played a critical role all throughout the “pandemic” in promoting Pfizer’s COVID jabs every chance she gets. After all, COVID jabs have become Pfizer’s main cash cow with little in the way of a successor now that the jig is up on the COVID scamdemic.
“So gross and so in your face,” one upset commenter wrote about Big Pharma and the FDA’s off-label drug promotion scam. “This is a humiliation ritual.”
“The off-label promotion of drugs, particularly vaccines, was egregious during the pandemic,” wrote another.
