We have all been told, since we were old enough to understand our language, that we are to respect law enforcement. This indoctrination runs real deep on some generations. There are actually people that think that all cops are “good cops”. They fail to look at the “actions” of the law enforcers and simply fail to go deeper into the mindset of cops.
I will be the first to admit that I succumbed to the same indoctrination early in life. I grew up around law enforcement and thought they all had the best intentions for the public. Little did I know that I was in for a big wake up. When I decided to join law enforcement I actually went in thinking that I was doing the right thing and was “protecting and serving” the public.
After a few years in, I started questioning things that I witnessed. I no longer “kissed up” to my superiors. I could clearly see that the key to moving up the chain was to not question anything and to be a mindless “order follower”. I could see that law enforcement was becoming more and more a “us versus them” mentality. The “thin blue line” moto actually means a separation between the badged and the public. The ruling mentality among all cops, that remain on the force, is that they are “above” the public. That’s why I have been saying for years that there is no such thing as a “good cop”.
Any law enforcer that “wakes up” and realizes what they are actually doing to the public and starts actually questioning things will suddenly find themselves on the “losing side” of the “thin blue line”. That was my case. When I decided to question things they started making things real hard for me, which led to me walking away. They “weed out” anyone who wants to do the right thing.
Brian, from “Here’s The Deal”, came across a video that “John Eagle” brought to his attention. This video is from a Sheriff Jack McLamb recorded in 1994. This speech that he is giving should be heard by every law enforcer wearing a badge today. In the speech he explains how a few questions from an old man made him realize that he clearly didn’t know anything about the oath that he took when he became a law enforcer. He claims to have questioned his superiors about their knowledge of Constitution and as he started upholding and protecting more peoples rights he was targeted and fired from multiple agencies. He states that so many cops do what they do against people because they just “don’t know” they are doing bad things, which I disagree with. If a person has morals then they clearly will know when they are harming another person.
Brian makes several great points, as he plays the video, such as how great it would be for everyone if cops were actually “guardians” of peoples rights. If cops, local, state, or federal, would have morals and not have the evil mindset of wanting to wage tyranny against their fellow man this would be a thriving nation. Brian also makes the point that if cops had a heart, then they would know that they are doing very bad things to the public.
The video is a little over an hour, but I believe watching it is time well spent.
