Imagine that you are working as a Door Dash driver and have to deliver to a business. The delivery is at a Menards, in the lumber area behind gates. You drive in, hand the delivery to an employee all without exiting your vehicle. Now the security and employees demand that you allow them to search your vehicle! All because of a “policy”! Then they don’t allow you to leave and call the police!
This reminds me of my days working in loss prevention for a retail store in the nineties. It was a clothing store located in an indoor mall. This was back in the day when loss prevention were actually expected to not only watch for shoplifters, but also apprehend them and then turn them over to police. There were very strict rules that had to be followed before we could even approach someone. Anytime you stop someone’s forward movement that was considered an arrest.
In this video, from “Here’s The Deal”, that’s basically what these employees did to this man. They essentially arrested him because they were enforcing a “policy”. Luckily, the man stood his ground and I hope he sues the living daylights out of Menards!
