Imagine, during a nightly patrol, a cop pulls over a vehicle that they suspect is a DUI driver. The officer approaches the vehicle and speaks to the driver. The drivers speech is slurred and the officer smell alcohol. Next, the officer discovers that the driver is a cop. Suddenly the officer starts tip toeing around, asking is there a weapon in the vehicle. The driver tells him yes.
At this point, if the driver were not another cop, the officer would be treating the driver much more aggressively saying don’t move! Instead the officer treats the other cop with kid gloves, saying things like “I’m going to just cuff you in the front”. When the DUI cop tells the officer that she live just down the road, insinuating that she be let go, the officer says “my bodycam is on and my dashcam is on”. This clearly lets us know that if it were not for this then he probably would just let the cop go.
If you have been watching police encounters over the years then you know how cops treat the public and how differently they treat their own. Take a look at this video, from “Here’s The Deal” and see the difference. It clearly shows their mindset where they view their own in comparison to the public.
