I have been one who works with technology most of my life. I have always been that one who’s friends and family called upon when they could not get their computers to work right. I was the child who thought that K.I.T.T. from the show Knight Rider was the most coolest thing ever. Anything “tech” I had to know about it. I am fortunate enough that my instinct has always made me be able to take a step back and determine where the line to be drawn is when it comes to technology. I have always viewed technology the same way I view a drill and that is, it is a tool. I draw the line when technology takes away a freedom, such as a self driving car. Some people may think that a self driving car is freedom, but I view driving the vehicle yourself as the ultimate freedom.
That same viewpoint also applies to technology that changes the human body or it’s reality. I believe that any technology that alters your perception of reality has the ability for someone else to alter your reality and thus control you. You see, I don’t let technology get “too close” to me. I don’t let technology get to me on a personal level. I always treat it like a tool that I can use or I can choose not to use it. There are technocrats that are trying to merge technology with the human and the only reason for that, in my opinion, is for control.
Here is a very interesting video talking about this further.
